The International Design & Architecture Awards 2013 was held on a mild Friday 20th September evening at The Hurlingham Club, London.

Now in only its forth year the awards have almost doubled in size every year this year seeing an incredible number in attendance estimated at 400 of the world’s design elite. Our host, Design et al’s Joanne Beedles, mentioned that there had been a record 32,842 votes cast and an incredible 447 project entries shortlisted from 35 countries.

Within the Design & Architecture section we were thrilled to be amongst the esteemed company of interior design stalwarts such as Joanna Wood, Katherine Pooley, Louis Henri, Finchatton, Hill House Interiors, Richmond Group, Lawson Rob and Casa Forma.

The competition was of the highest calibre (we say this each year and yet we’re stunned by how the bar just keeps rising) and I’m sure the public who voted had a tough challenge to make a decision – which explains the average 30 minutes taken per vote.

To our delight we were selected as the winners of the Best Home Cinema category for our work on our Chatsworth Road project – see full project in our portfolio. This now means that The Design Practice by UBER has won at these awards  for an incredible four years in succession – something only matched by one other established and reputable design team.

Lalique Crystal Bowl International Design & Architecture Award

The beautiful crystal trophies were donated by event sponsor Lalique this year who along with The Sofa and Chair Company shared presentation duties with Joanne.

The awards this year not only incorporated the Design & Architecture but the Hotel & Property, Asia Pacific categories as well as the Product Design (furniture, lighting, fabrics and wallpaper).
